This is my first blog entry. I am not very efficient at blogging so I decided against it when I launched my new website. However, I realised that I have something that I would like to share.
I have started my photography journey with photographing families, children and babies. All parents want beautiful pictures of their children! I photographed kids running in the fields and babies smiling with their cutest smiles, however, I noticed that mothers of these cute little creatures preferred to stay away from the camera. Then I realised that these fabulous women, mothers, grandmothers, daughters, sisters, did not feel beautiful. They felt self conscious, were naming their ‘flaws’ as an excuse for not being in the pictures, so I made the decision to concentrate on photographing women. Which I love love love!
Why would I do that? Why would women want to be photographed? Why would they need that?
Because when we are young we want to preserve the youth, and it’s the only way to do it. Because we want to have memories, beautiful precious memories. Because all women, regardless their age and shape, are beautiful but most don’t see it or don’t feel beautiful. And that is the main reason I am doing it.
Women change when they start their own family. Most of the time it’s not about us anymore, it’s about our children, husband and home – the priorities change. We are kinda left behind the scenes. Things change, body changes, wrinkles appear here and there, and we don’t feel or think that we are still beautiful. We look in the mirror and tend to see only ‘flaws’. We don’t realize that beauty lies within, if we love ourselves and feel good about ourselves, we will look beautiful! I see beauty in every woman! And if at any time you did not like a photograph of yourself, it has nothing to do with you or your ‘flaws’, it’s a photographer’s fault not putting you in a flattering pose or using wrong light! There is nothing wrong with you! You are beautiful and you need to see it!
